With the advent of packages such as NVivo, we are now able to achieve the same result electronically. Previously, qualitative researchers have used highlighter pens, index cards, or even a pair of scissors to analyse their qualitative data. NVivo is the most widely used qualitative data analysis package internationally, and is certainly the most popular choice amongst New Zealand researchers. It is also likely to be of most benefit to those researchers who have already begun – or are close to starting – data collection. No prior knowledge of the software is assumed however a basic understanding of qualitative analysis procedures would be helpful. This course is targeted at researchers wanting an efficient means of handling and analysing their qualitative data. This course is offered by the University Postgraduate Centre – Spaces are limited! (Please note that ‘NVivo for Beginners’ must be attended prior to ‘NVivo Intermediate’, and both these courses must be completed in order to attend ‘NVivo for Literature Reviews’.) NVivo for Beginners – Research Postgraduate Students, (previously July 10) now rescheduled to Wednesday 26 February, 9.00am-4.30pm
